NASA's Mars Rover, Curiosity just hours away from showtime


Curiosity ends its multi-month journey to Mars tonight, August 5th with touchdown scheduled for 10:32pm PDT.

The re-entry and touchdown will be performed completely by on-board computers as the distance between Earth and Mars precludes real-time control by NASA.

Curiosity is the biggest and baddest Rover to date to ever land on a planet or moon.  Data from the nuclear powered Curiosity will go a long way to replace our understanding of Mars since NASA's other rovers, Spirit and Opportunity having long since exceeded their scheduled mission times, although Opportunity is still sending data back to Earth much to the surprise of NASA mission specialists.
